Ms. Cicogna guided students on how they could use their phone cameras and an app called "Snap Seed" to take and create high quality images! Students were introduced to multiple photography projects, techniques and themes for each of their projects. From exploring the outdoors, compositing the perfect shot and photomontage, learning how to edit photo to even layering their photos to create digital double exposures- students left with a new perspective on the world around them!
Animation
Student took on making pictures move through this course! The week began with an introduction to animation and creating our own hand made traditional animations: Thaumatropes and Phenakistoscopes! As we moved forward, our projects grew more advanced from flip books to short digital animations! We also reviewed and discussed things such as the persistence of vision and Disney's 12 principals of animation!
Painting
During this course students gained hands on experience with both acrylic and watercolor paints. The course began with a deep dive into comprehending color theory, and experimenting with color mixing. As the week went on students watched live demos with Ms. Cicogna and created their very own original paintings utilizing the new techniques they had learned!

Sketchbook & Illustration
In this course students not only learned about multiple forms of illustration, they also learned about the importance of a sketchbook as a place for visual planning/thinking. Each project introduced new techniques, and students worked together to problem solve and explore new media! Students pursued multiple illustration projects such: Illustration scavenger hunts, imaginary creatures, botanical illustrations, illustrating text/quotes and food illustration.

Drawing & Cartooning
Through this course students were introduced to the foundations of how to draw and design their own cartoon drawings! Students learned about how certain shapes depict certain character types, how to create cartoon expressions and more! From character design and turn around sheets, to collaborative character duo creations- students had a blast working together and creating cartoon works!
Art-Full Play!
Learn, create and have fun at the same time- that is what this course is all about! Here students were invited to collaborate as a group though multiple art making activities such as pass the drawings (digitally), or guess the drawing games. Students also learned a lot about symbols and iconography, through discussing about and creating their own emojis. Each project came with new discoveries, teamwork and lots of fun!
